PUTARURU BRANCH. I Monthly Meeting. j A regrettably - small attendance marked the April meeting of the I Putaruru branch of the New Zealand j Farmers' Union on Saturday. Mr. A. i R. Vosper (president) was in the j chair. What the Union Has Done. At „the last meeting of the branch it was decided to write to the pro- | vincial secretary asking for inform- j ation as to .the union’s achievements so as to enable local members to be equipped with propaganda material. In reply the secretary forwarded a number of pamphlets giving the required information.—Received. Increased Killing Space. The Meat Board wrote in reference to the branch’s complaint about , the increase of killing space in an Auckland proprietary freezing works, enclosing a cutting from the Dominion in which the Minister of Agriculture, Hon. G. W. Forbes, reiterated his former statement that it was to prevent losses in a peak period that the extra killings took place. The secretary, Mr. L. M. Nicklin, said it was not a proper way to reply to a letter.—Received. Balance-sheet. The annual balance : sheet, which was not available at the annual meeting, was presented. It disclosed a small credit balance which was deemed to be satisfactory. General.
Mr. Hamilton, of Tckoroa, wrote declining the position of vice-presi-dent. The meeting, while expressing regret that Mr. Hamilton could not see his way clear to accept the position, decided to make an effort at a later date to get into touch with the Tokoroa settlers so as to interest them in the Farmers’ Union. Mr. L. M. Nicklin was appointed the branch’s delegate to the Auck- ■ land provincial conference to be held in Auckland on May 21. It was decided to hold a meeting on May IS to consider the remits ' that Will Ime before the conference.
