MOTHERS’ WELFARE WEEK.
. PUTARUBU’S RETORT. The Women’s Division of the htkZ. Farmers’ Union has received notice from headquarters that between the dates of May 6 and U, an effort -will be made hy all branches of the a have organisation throughout the Dominion to raise funds in support of the Health Department's efforts to combat the evil of maternal mortality. As regards the Putaruru branch, activities are set for the dates of May T and 8. The local members of the Women’s Division have been promised the whole-heart-ed cooperation of the local Plunket Society, and these two bodies have drawn up an attractive programme for both of above dates. The movement involves quite a lot of hard work for those responsible for the carrying out of the arrangements, and any of the general public who would wish to assist in such a worthy cause will find such assistance gratefully accepted. It would help greatly if the names of sny such people could be passed in to either of the two secretaries, who would then be able to allot the workers evenly over the days. Following is a detailed programme for each day, Tuesday, 7th, and Wednesday, Bth.
Tuesday.—Mother’s Day: 1.30 p.m. to 2.30 p.m., address by Plunket Nurse on pre-natal care and infant welfare; 2.: 0 p.m, to 3 p.m., musical programme; 3 p.m. to 4.30 p.m., competitions in cutting out of infants’ flannel wear and afternoon tea.
Wednesday.—Family Day: 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., children’s competition; 3 p.m. to 3.30 p.m., reception to mothers and grandmoters of largest families; 3.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m., afternoon tea, musical items, etc.
