THE LONDON MARKET.
The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board has received the following cable from its London office, dated April 12, 1929, advising Smithfield delivered prices averaged for week ending that date as follows:
New Zealand Wethers and Maidens ---Canterbury quality, selected brands, 561 b and under 7Sd, 571 b to 641 b 6id, 651 bto 721 K 53d; other brands, 561 b and under 7d, 571 b to 641 b 6id, 651 b to 721 b Sid. New Zealand ewes, 641 b and under sd. New Zealand Lambs.—Canterbury quality, 361 b and under 9Sd, 371 b to 421 b 9d, 431 bto 501 b 83d, seconds 9Sd; selected brands, 361 b and under 9id, 371 bto 421 bBl d; other brands, first quality, 361 b and under 9id, 371 b to 421 b 83d; second quality, 301 b to 321 b average, 9ld.
Australian Lambs.—Victorian, first quality, 361 b and under Bid, 371 b to 421 b 83d.
Argentine Lambs.—First ouality, 361 b and under 73d, 371 b to 421 b 71d. Argentine Chilled Beef.—Ox fores 53d, ox hinds 83d. New Zealand Frozen Pork.—Porkers, 601 b to 801 b 9d, 811 b to 991 b 83d, 1001 b to 1201 b Sid; baconers, 1211 b to 1801 b 9d. Lambs.—Market firm with better prices. There is a better tone prevaling on market. Mutton.—Market firmer. More interest is being taken in heavier weights.
New Zealand Beef.—Stocks exhausted. Higher prices ruling for chilled beef is helping demand for lamb and mutton.
New Zealand Porker Pigs—Market keeps firm. New Zealand Baconer Pigs.—There is a good demand for small stocks available.
