THE HOUSEHOLDERS’ MEETING.

THE annual meeting of householders of Putaruru to elect a school committee for the ensuing year is to be held on Monday evening. Last year the attendance wa* confined to the members of the committee, and it is tc be hoped that the parents will wake up from this spirit of lethargy and by their attendance show that they take spme interest in the education of their children. V/e are on the verge of important changes in our educational system and it behoves the community to take an interest and demonstrate to the Minister of Education their views as to the particular type of education they would like to see introduced. School committees and householders on Monday night will no doubt be passing resolutions on this subject, and it is up to Putaruru to have a voice in the matter. Locally the matter of best increasing the attendance -n the secondary department so as to constitute a strong senior division could be best discussed at a meeting of householders the majority of whom are no doubt parents. It is. a progressive step to have a district high school in a town and no stone should be left unturned to increase its efficiency. The committee has been faithful in the discharge of its duties, and while this is so yet it would appreciate a greater interest by the parents in the administration of school affairs.
