PIS MARKETING.
ASSOCIATION’S REPORT. In its monthly report to suppliers, the New Zealand Pig-marketing Association states that another successful month has just closed, 6138 pigs being handled, a substantial increase over the number handled for the same month last year. Supplies were now starting to decline, however, as the supply of milk goes down. As was to be expected, the largest proportion of pigs coming forward were of porker weights. There would be no necessity to store porkers this season, except perhaps very late in the season, so that a repetition of last year’s experience would be prevented. AH pigs received to date this season had been sold, and pools were being finalised as quickly as account sales came to hand. Indications were that the season would be a very satisfactory. one, as prices had been firm both in the United Kingdom and New Zealand for some time. Much valuable experience had been gained this season, both in the marketing of pigs and in the dressing of pigs for market. A certain amount of more or less experimental work had had to be carried out, hut the results of these experiment? more than justified it. The demand for pi" carcases this season had far excceded.tbc supply, and good sales in the limited Kingdom. Australia and loca.ilv had to he declined owing to insufficiency of supplies. The association decided to cure a number of heavy pigs for bacon for its members, and first supplies would be available in a week or so.
