Putaruru. Mrs. Coltman, ox Hamilton, spent the week-end with Mrs. Lynsey. Mrs. A. J. Leggatt left on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. H. Pearce by motor for a holiday down south. Mr. Higgins, of Frankton, is spending a few days with his daughter, Mrs. F. Brown, of Arapuni. Mrs. T. Craig, of Auckland, is I spending a holiday with her sister, Mrs. K. McDermott. _ _ | i A very successful dance in aid of ' the Ax-apuni school picnic was held on I Friday evening in the Public Works Department social hall, i A very pleasant afternoon was spent last Tuesday on the Putaruru croquet lawns, when a party of ladies i visited the club. Five games were : played, Putaruru winning three and j Matamata two.

Miss Joan Mueller, >f Morrinsville, is spending a holiday in Auckland. , Mrs. Aitlcen, senr., who has been 'visiting Auckland, has returned to Kereone. Miss D. Lowry is visiting her sister, Mrs. W. Hames, of Paparoa, North Auckland. 1 Miss M. King, of Hamilton, has been visiting her mother, Mrs. Wilson. of Morrinsville. j Miss Marion Allwood, of Hamilton, is staying with her parents, Mr. and j Mrs. Allwood, of Morrinsville. Miss I. Gray, of Victoria, Australia, is staying with Mrs. B. J. Pirrit, of Kiwitahi. j Mr. and Mrs. D. Dodd visited Morrinsville on Friday, continuing their journey the same day to Rotorua. Matamata. i The engagement is announced of Molly, daughter of Mr. end Mrs. T. of Pouuwa, Gisborne, to Mr. Harry McDonald, of the Gisborne branch of the Bank of Australasia, and late of that bank’s Matamata branch. Messrs. M. Madill, senior and junior, of Taihoa, returned by motor ear on Wednesday from Auckland, where they had been spending a short holiday.
