FLOWERS AND INDUSTRY.

. : TIRAU ANNUAL SHOW. P TQs#eventh annual show under the ‘auspices of the Ladies’ Guild of the Tirau Presbyterian Church v. as held last week. The show was officially opened by Mr. C. H. Clinkard, the member for “the district, who was introduced to the gathering by the moderator, Rev. A. C. Hampton, of Matamata. Mr. Clinkard expressed his pleasure at being present and congratulated the ladies on their splendid display. Presentation. During the afternoon the Eev. Hampton presented the Eev. and Mrs. W. T. Brabyn with an electric iron ■on behalf of the Matamata Ladies’ ■Guild. The attendance in the afternoon was good, and in the evening very large, and all the stallholders reported good business, with the result that just on £BO was taken, which will go ■towards paying off the new manse. The following kindly acted as' judges: Mrs. Wilson (Matamata), Mrs. Hampton (Matamata), Mrs. Fitzgerald (Putaruru), Mr. and Mrs. ■Jones and Mrs. Johnston (Matamata) and Mr. Horscroft (Tirau).

Following were the stallholders:— jppweets, Mrs. Eggleston, Mrs. Bottomley and Miss Fitzgerald; fancy, Miss Hughes, Mrs. Spedding and Miss Russell; toys, Mrs. Stewart, Mrs. Amoore; produce, Mrs: Tinkler, Mrs. Allen, Mrs. Newport; tea rooms, . Mrs. J. Gray, Mrs. Pevreal, Mrs. Syme, Mrs. P. Amoore and Miss Syme. A word of praise is due to Mrs. N. Coubrough, who as secretary carried lout her duties in a very capable 'manner. Following are the winners. of the ■competitions:—Cake guessing, Miss E. M. Allen; scarf, Mrs. Bear; cake, Mrs. Brabyn and Mr. Kelly tied and divided the prize; doll, Mrs. Halwell; lamb, Mr. Feisst; pig, Mr. T. Cochrane. Officers. The officials were:—Minister, Eev. W. T.
