Stock Sales.
MORRINSVILLE. An average yarding of cattle and pigs and a full yarding of sheep came forward at Dalgety and Company’s Morrinsville sale on Thursday. Prices were on a par with those of recent sales, although competition was weaker for beef. There were soma good-quality fat cows yarded but these failed to reach vendors’ reserves. The young cattle adtertised, chiefly Jersey-cross heifer calves, were of inferior quality and sold up to £3 10s and £4 ss. Prices were:— Beef.—Fat cows £7 10s to £8 11s ; fat heifers £6 15s to £9 ; old store cows to £3 16s ; Jersey-cross heifers, r.w.b., £5 16s ; Jersey-cross heifes calves £2 16s to £4 ss. Sheep. Four-year and five-yea* ewes 21s 9d to 23s ; small ewes 17s ; store lambs 16s to 18s 6d ; small lambs 12s lOd to 15s ; rams £1 10s to £2 2s. Pigs.—Porkers £2 Is to £2 5s | stores 18s to 21s ; slips 12s to 14s 6d ; weaners 4s to 11s 6d. MATAMATA. * •The weekly Matamata stock sale was held by Dalgety and Co. Ltd. on. Wednesday. _ There was not a large yarding of cattle, but prices for beef showed a sharp advance—£2 per head. The demand for pigs continues. Prices were:— Fat cows, £8 to £9 15s; fat heifers, £9 14s; forward conditioned cows, £8 to £6 15s; cows with calves £6 17s 6d to £9 2s 6d. Sheep.—lane of 4, 6 and f.m. breeding ewes, 27s 6d; shorn lambs, small, 14s 6d; woolly Romney-cross ewe lambs, 235; woolly Romney-cross wether lambs, 21s; 2-tooth Southdown rams, £8 8s; Romneys, £1 Is to £5 ss.
