LOW VOLTAGE.

MORRINSVILLE COMPLAINT Annoj’ance and Expense. Complaints of low voltage were made to the Thames Valley Power Board by the manager of the Morrinsviile Dairy Company, Mr. Stirling, at Tuesday’s meeting. Mr. Stirling pointed out that the voltage of the current supplied to the factory was usually about 20 or 25 volts below standard, and when the pressure dropped still lower, as had been experienced on many occasions, the position was almost as bad as that arising from a complete failure of the supply. At these times the factory staff was put to a great deal of annoyance, inconvenience and expense, and it was inevitable that the quality of the output was seriously affected. The writer added that he could appreciate the fact that in this matter the board was largely in the hands of the Public Works Department, but it was hoped that a strong protest would be conveyed to the proper quarter and a better service insisted upon. The manager, Mr. R. Sprague, stated that it was proposed this winter to bring the transformer position close to the factory, so that as good a voltage regulation as possible would be obtained. The recent low voltage had been due to the parent supply. The Public Works Department had trouble with its Horahora-Waikino line equipment, with the result that the board’s Waitoa supply had been delivered through the Hamilton-Bom-bay-Waitoa route, and consequently bad regulation followed. The position was being placed before the department and it was hoped that the trouble would be rectified at an early date.
