Salmon are beginning to come up the rivers now, but fishermen report that there has been no distinct run yet, states the Christchurch P-05..:. They have been caught in jthe W.iimakariri, and about forty rods were out on the Rakaia. over the week-end. Trout in the Rakaia are in beautiful condition, but are being left alcne for the salmon. Some good trout were caught in the Waimakariri with the bully in the daytime in the last few days. In the Selwyn there has been rather too much water for good fly fishing, but fishing should be excellent when the river is slightly lower.
