FARMERS’ UNION.
WOMEN’S DIVISION. Putaruru Branch. The Putaruru branch of the Women’s Division held its usual •monthly meeting on Saturday. The attendance was very satisfactory, comprising the following members : Mesdames H. Baldwin, Voyce, Scott, W. Baldwin, Morrison, Robinson, Spear, Truss, Worth, Whale, Addenbrooke, Campbell, T. W. Fitness, McKinnon, Sneddon, McKeon, Gealey, Berman and Karl. Mrs. Voyce again came forward with two new members, these ladies, Mesdames Whale and ‘Millner, being duly enrolled.
The steady growth of membership is a very satisfactory indication of the general interest felt in the division,. and it is hoped that by May, the clos<| of the first year, the roll of members will include many more names. The rest room fund is steadily if slowly growing, a further sum, raised before ChristifTas at a local tennis afternoon, being placed to the banking account. The funds available from the farmers’ picnic held on Anniversary Day were not yet t 6 hand, but a very gratifying sum is expected. Members expressed their sympathy with Mrs. Tomalin in her illness, and a speedy recovery is hoped for. A dainty afternoon tea concluded the proceedings. .
