GENERAL NOTES.
Curing- Body Squeaks. Body squeaks are caused frequently by slack holding-down bolts. Either the nuts become loose or the felt packing between the body and the chassis frame works out, leaving a clearance between the two members. It is a good plan periodically to go over the body holding-down bolts, tucking in the packing and tightening the nuts where necessary. Good Traffic Law. A New Jersey traffic law, effective
from September 1, embodies a clause making it an offence for anyone either to ask for or offer a ride anywhere on the open highways of the State. How effectively the law accomplishes its purpose remains to be seen. There is more to this paragraph than the New Zealand motorist may realise. Besides the accident
risk, America is cursed with a type of criminal who, posing as an innocent wayfarer, gets a lift with ulterior motives. It is a safe policy in America to refuse all advances and j to refrain from inviting strangers— I however innocent looking—to a seat in the car. «
