CAR OVERTURNS.

FORTUNATE ESCAPE. While motoring to Tokoroa on Sunday Mr. and Miss Valentine, of Putaruru, had a fortunate escape from serious injury when their car overturned on a bank near the camping ground. Through the presence of mind of Miss Valentine, who was in the passenger seat, the impact was greatly lessened and except for very slight shock no injury was sustained by the occupants. The only damage done to the car was the buckling of the mudguards on one side, not even the glass being cracked. Another party of motorists rendered assistance, and the car, on being righted, was driven back to Putaruru under its own power. Despite the fact that Mr. and Miss Valentine had to crawl out of the window to effect their escape when imprisoned after the upset; they made light of their experiences, which, however, must have been fairly exciting, to say the least, at the time.
