EFFICIENCY SEEKERS.

RAILWAY EMPLOYEES PARTICIPATE.

Some 20,000 employees of the London Midland and Scottish Railway will be attending special commercial and technical course, this winter in order to make themselves efficient railway workers; instruction covers many branches of railway activity as well as technical subjects. The classes formed are mostly free and in many cases, to encourage attendance, “time” is given to students and free travel allowed within reasonable limits. Prizes and certificates are distributed at the close of the session and particulars of successes are entered on the staff record cards and are taken into consideration when the questions of promotion arise. The method adopted by the L.M.S. Railway in this training their staff is to produce really efficient workers with a good knc<wi&Jga of railway business.
