Stock Sales.
MATAMATA. The first weekly Matamata stock^* - sale for this year was conducted by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company on Wednesday. There was a good yarding of beef and store cattle, and also some pens of exceptionally fine fat pigs, the latter being among the best brought forward for some time. Beef showed an easing tendency. Sheep.—Fat shorn wethers, 28s ; two-tooth shorn lambs, 30s 3d; mixed sexes shorn store lambs, 14s. Cattle.—Medium fat heifers, £8 to £9 12s 6d; medium fat cows, £7 7s 6d to £9; lighter sorts, £6 to £7 ss; fresh-conditioned store cows, £4 to £4 15s; boners, £2 7s 6d to £3 10s; - heavy potting bulls, £lO 7s 6d to £l3 10s, medium weights £8 to £9 ss, lighter £6 10s. Pigs.—Heavy baconers, £2 18s to £3 3s; lighter sorts, £2 10s to £2 15s; porkers, £2 to £2 8s; slips, £1 to £1 12s; weaners, 9s to 16s 6d. MORRINSVILLE. Due to the holiday and haymaking season the yarding of stock at the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s sale at Morrinsville on Friday was a small one, while buyers were not present in their usual numbers. Very few sheep came forward, while the offering of dairy cattle was also short. There was a good demand for pigs, which sold readily at slightly advanced rates. Beef made late rates. Prices were as follow:
Beef.—Good quality medium fat cows £9 15s to £lO Bs, lighter £7 15s to £8 18s; killable cows, £6 10s to £7 ss; store cows, £4 15s to £5 17s 6d; bulls, heavy £8 to £9, lighter £5 to £6. Pigs.—Heavy baconers, £2 16s to £3 3s; heavy porkers, £2 8s to £2 lOd; light porkers, £1 19s to £2 2s; stores, £1 12s to £1 15s; slips, £1 3s to £1 9s; weaners, 10s to £1 3s. Dairy Cattle. —Cows in milk, £6 10s to £lO.
Sheep.—Sound mouthed woolly ewes, 245.. ERANKTON.. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s first weekly stock sale of the new year in the Frankton yards on Tuesday there was a good entry ;of beef cattle and mutton, both classes selling firmly at values well up to those reached previous to the holidays, and a few pens of store lambs submitted were readily -sought after. An average number of fat and store pigs was penned ; fats advanced slightly in values on late ruling rates. Medium fat steers made to £l4 13s, light prime £l2 to £l2 16s ; prime heavy cows £lO 16s to £ll 19s, medium-weight prime £9 11s to £lO 7s, lighter £7 15s to £8 15s, unfinished £5 16s to £7, stores £5 8s to £5 15s. A full number of fat sheep was penned and sold firmly at late rates ; prime wethers made to 325, fat ewes 21s to 22s 6d, fat 2-tooth ewes in wool 32s Bd, shorn 24s lOd to 26s lOd, gpod mixed-sex Romney store lambs 21s lOd, small 14s 6d. A good yarding of fat pigs sold at improved figures, heavy baconers making £2 18s to £3 4s, lighter £2 2s to £2 15s, heavy porkers £2 5s to £2 9s, light £1 16s to £2 3s, choppers £1 16s to £3 3s, slips £1 to £1 10s, weaners 7s to 13s 6d.
