APPRECIATION OF MINISTER.
GIFTS TO REV. W. T. BRABYN. Prior to leaving for the South Island, where he is to be married, Rev. W. T. Brabyn was presented with many tokens of esteem from his parishioners. Last Tuesday the Tirau Ladies’ Guild presented him with a handsome dinner wagon, Mrs. Coubrough and Mrs. Spedding expressing the good wishes and esteem of the members. At Puketurua last Thursday afternoon a large number of residents assembled at the school, and after musical items by Mrs. Shine, Miss Alice Barnett and the school children, Miss Bonny Hildreth, on behalf of the district; presented him with a beautiful afternoon tea set and oak tray.
At Putaruru, the same evening, a large gathering was held in the Presbyterian Hall and after community singing and solos by Messrs. Gawith and G. Brown and a duet by Miss Goodwin and Mr. G. Brown, Mr. W. P. Benton, on behalf of the Putaruru congregation, asked Mr. Brabyn to accept a substantial cheque as a token of their appreciation and good wishes.
In addition to many private gifts, the Kihikihi Ladies’ Guild sent-over a beautiful silver cake dish, suitably inscribed.
