The Hall Debt. On the 10th instant the second public meeting: was held of those interested in the hall debt extinction. Those present were enthusiastic and well representative of all parts of the district, in the chair being Mr. Mclsaac, who is also men’s convenor ; Mi. C. Brown secretary) and Mrs. J. Hayes (ladies’ convenor). It had been decided to hold the final function about the end of February, but, as Mr. C. Seelly pointed out that there would be several important counter attractions during that month and that it Was a very busy and tiring one for farmers and their wives, it was decided to postpone the conclusion till March 21. This met with general approval. Stallholders were asked to form committees that would organise for their respective queens. Novel and varied functions were suggested and dates appropriated. The following badge and flag colours were allocated : Sweets, blue; fancy stall, green ; cakes, red ; produce, gold.

The successful New Year’s Eve dancq previously mentioned in our columns was not, as stated, organised entirely by the hall committee, but by a capable and energetic band of spinsters co-operating with the aforesaid body, which consented to the function being made a leap year one, thus enabling these ladies to make use of every possible leap year moment in which to make arrangements for changing their status from that of independent freedom to one of dependent bliss.. Among the very charming M.’s C. were noticed Misses Zalie Bell, Mona Germann, Sheila De Ath, Edna Collins, Lois Wade, Kathleen Tisch, Florence Settle and Marjorie Oates. Personal. On Christmas Eve, while Leslie Libeau, aged eight, a son of Mr. A. G. Libeau, of Buckland road, was cranking his father’s truck he had the misfortune to break his right forearm. After being X-rayed at the Waikato Hospital he was taken home, where he is now doing well.

Mrs. M. Hammonds, of this district, and her daughter, Mrs. Gordon Collins, who had been indisposed for some time, have recovered. Mr. and Mrs. B. Everex and Miss M. Germann, of Auckland, who have been on an extensive motor tour through the North Island, were last week visiting Mrs. F. Germann, qf this district. Mrs. Leslie Cook and family are holidaying. with relatives in Nelson. Miss Mavis Dunstan, of Auckland, has been staying with her sister, Mrs. P. Hawke. Mrs. J. Iremonger, of Wellington, is the guest of Mrs. A. E. Rowe. Mr. and Mrs. F. Coombe (Wellington) and Mrs. Pagan, are visiting Mrs. Richard Hawke. Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Pond and family are spending an enjoyable time at Waihi beach. Mr. P. Cannell is in New Plymouth. Miss Mona Germann, our popular local postmistress, commenced her holidays this week at Raglan and Auckland. Misses T. and E. Swan are staying with Mrs. McQuoid at Titirangi. Mrs. G william and family, of Auckland, are the guests of Mrs. B. Tisch. Mrs. Hancock has been visiting her mother, Mrs. Ellery, at Timaru. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Wright and family are spending holidays at St. Heliers Bay. Misses E. Crawford and Bulley and Mr. Babe senior, all of Whangarei, are staying with Mrs. McLean, of this district. Miss Doris Hayes is visiting Mrs. R. Hooper, late of this district, hut who now resides at Maungaturoto. Miss Mavis Weal, of .Cambridge, and Mrs. McGrath, of Auckland, are staying at “ Rangitanuku,” the home of Mrs. C. Seelly. Mrs. W. Maud and family are camping at their bach at Pukekohe. Mrs. B. Wheeler is spending holidays at Tauranga, as are also Mrs. Harold Conder and family. Miss Alla Stanhope, of Wellington, and Miss Sybil Lucas, of Palmerston North, are visiting relatives in Hinuera. Miss Marjorie Oates is in Auckland. '
