PUTARURU METHODISTS.
QUARTERLY MEETING. The quarterly meeting of the Putaruru Methodist Church was held on Monday, January 7, in the church. Rev. Ashworth, who presided over a small attendance, reported that the membership was 22 infants, 6 junior and 67 senior. It was decided to hold the harv* 7 :- 7 festival on Sunday, March 24, and to invite the chairman of the district, Rev. Burley, of Thames, to take the services on that day. The circuit stewards, Messrs. Wheeler and Reid, were re-elected, and it was resolved that a letter of appreciation be sent to Mr. Wheeler of his work, and hoping that his health will enable him to continue in office.
Letter of thanks are also to be sent to all local preachers and those who have assisted in the services. A farewell social was arranged to hid good-bye to Mr. and Mrs. Voyce and family, of Tokoroa, who are leaving the district. Members of the meeting expressed the loss the church will sustain in the departure of such sterling workers. The secretary was directed to thank Mr. H. W. Lindsey for his gift of doors and glass for a cupboard for the Sunday school. Owing to the absence of a number of members on holiday and through sickness it was decided to postpone discussion of a special effort for Harvest Festival and the. question of transport until a special meeting at the end of January. After the settlement of formal business, the chairman closed the meeting.
