Teacher’s Farewell. A large number of parents and scholars of the Tirau school gathered at the public hall on Wednesday at a farewell afternoon te.,aered to Mr. H. McCambridge, who has been headmaster of the Tirau school for several years. The function was marked With great enthusiasm, yet it was mingled with regret at the headmaster’s impending departure from the district.

I In making a presentation of a ! handsome gold watch to Mr. MeCami bridge on behalf of the parents, Mr. I* E- W. Jordan paid a high tribute to the headmaster as a teacher. " He said that never in the history of the school had it made such progress as I under Mr. McCambridge. He had earned the utmost' respect and confidence of the parents and children and he would be most difficult to replace.

Mrs. McCambridge was presented with a handsome vase, a rose, bowl and a bouquet by Miss M. Jordan on behalf of the pupils. Rev. W. T. Brabyn also spoke of the excellent qualities of the departing teacher. Mr. McCambridge has been appointed headmaster at Makatu, East Coast. He will be succeeded by Mr. R. Harvey, of Aka Aka. Postal Transfer. Mr. S. Sarah, of the Tirau post office staff, has been promoted and transferred to Matamata. He is sue- j ceeded by Mr. R. Long, formerly of Matamata. Mr. E. E. lieving postmaster at Morrinsville for some months, has returned to Tirau. Accident to Child. Willie Warren, son of Mrs. G. War- | ren, of Okoroire, met with a nasty | accident the other day which resulted j in the loss of three toes off one foot. The boy was playing in the Waiomou j school grounds when a companion I lifted an axe and let it fall on young J Warren’s foot. The child was taken to the Waikato Hospital, where the toes were amputated. Impending Event. An event of interest to Tirau and Putaruru residents will take place i next month—the marriage of Rev. W. T. Brabyn.
