WELCOME HOME.
MRS. J. C. TOMALIX. The Putaruru branch of the Women’s Division of ■ the New Zealand Farmers’ Union held a very successful tennis afternoon on Mr. Karl’s court last Wednesday. Though threatening at times the weather continued’ fine throughout the day and a very - enjoyable time was spent, several good sets of tennis being played. Just previous to the serving of afternoon tea Mrs. Baldwin, in a few well-chosen words, expressed ' the pleasure of members of - the division in-Mrs. Tomalin’s return. Mrs. Tomalin suitably responded. Mrs. Tomalin was presented with a bouquet of red, and white flowers; these representing the division’s colours, by her little g:rand-daughter, Joan Karl. A dainty afternoon tea was then dispensed, after which the attention of the gathering focussed round the produce 'stall, which was stocked witha good array of jams, cakes, fruit, vegetables, etc. A brisk business was done and in an incredibly short time the whole contents of the stall were sold, quite a satisfactory sum being realised. ‘ The gathering broke up in the late afternociKafter a very enjoyable day.
