[ Leggatt secured an early lead but Hollard then notched a 4 and a 3. With several heads to .go Leggatt’s play became a trifle erratic but he then steadied up and scored a couple of singles, which made the scores on the last head but one 18—20 against. The jack was thrown almost full length and with Hollard’s last bowl to be played Leggatt lay two up, fairly, close together with a third just outside scoring distance and his fourth wide and in front. Hollard had two seconds and he chose to drive. His shot went" wide, and, hitI ting Leggatt’s front bowl .hard' towards kitty, it displaced the non l counter . but left the other slightly closer. On a measure the third ball was found to count by the merest fraction and thus Leggatt woh by the odd point. This is the champion’s first defeat for several seasons. Scores : Leggatt 21, Hollard 20.'
