FATAL ACCIDENT.

TIMBER WORKER KILLED. In Selwyn Bush. A fatal accident occurred in the Selwyn bush at about 3.30 o’clock on Tuesday afternoon, when a log rolled on Questor Heckt, aibushman, aged about 45. ■ Deceased, who was an employee of the Selwyn Timber Company Ltd., was working with three mates, Ernest and Ronald Woodcock and Arthur Olsen, at, the time. The party was engaged in putting a strap round a post so that the log could be put on the hauler rope. It appears that Heckt was 6n the under side of the log, which without warning rolled on top of him. Deceased was killed instantly, never uttering a word. - Heckt was a single man and a brother of Edward Heckt) who died some time ago as the result of the overturning of a motor car near the Waotu turnoff on the Arapuni road. The Heckt family was very well known in the district, having resided at Selwyn for the past 14 or 15 years.
