In the House of Commons recently the Minister of Agriculture stated tfhat the amount ■'W public money spent in the finaiicial year ended March 31, 1928, for encouragement of heavy horse breeding in England and Wales by means of tK? hoarding of grants to heavy horse breeders’ societies, was £7,239. The Minister also said he had been informed that the sum of £30,000 had been expended by the War Office in an endeavour to assist and encourage the breeding of light sorts, and that a further sum of £30,000 had been set aside for that purpose on the Estimates for the current year. This year’s grant in connection with heavy horse breeding by the Ministry of Agriculture, he said.. grould fee £7,500.
