Absentee votes may alter the situation in a number of cases. The result in the Waikato may be affected. Until the counting has been totally completed the exact position of the parties cannot be known. Two surprises of the election were the defeats of Mr F. F. Hockly, for Rotorua, and Mr J. S. Dickson, for Parnell, regarded as Reform safe seats. The victory of United Candidates over Messrs F. N. Bartram and J. A. ot expected.
