POWER BOARD FINANCES.
POSITION SATISFACTORY. Income and Expenditure. The following statement of the income and expenditure for the six months ended September 30, 1928, was produced at the November meeting of the Thames Valley Rower Board on Tuesday: Flat rate (lighting, heating and power), £32,614 6r. 6d; water-heaters, £2603 17s sd; ovens, £1685 18s 3d. The total income from the four towns supplied by the board was £51,239 4s 9d, compiled as follows: Matamata, £3752 14s lOd; Morrinsville, £2945 15s 6d; Paeroa, £6034 8s * sd; Te Aroha, £1602 3s 7d. These stat:stics comprise receipts for heat- . ing and power and lighting. Street I lighting amounted to £536 3s. The total income for the period under review was £63,248 7s lOd. The chairman (Mr. F. M. Strange) congratulated the board’s officers cn the excellent result achieved. The manager, Mr. R. Sprague, stated that the cost of administration for the half-year had teen steadily reduced, but the maintenance costs had been substantially increas- ; ed, owing to the damage to lines and j transformers caused by exceptional 1 weather conditions. The position of the board was, he 5 added, very satisfactory, and after ! conferring with the chairman he was ‘ of the opinion that the board would !■ be able to make a reduction in the present charges for milking motors at the end of the present financial year. | The power purchases for the six 1 months had also increased, but with | the present arranging of the loading * a reduction in this account was anticipated. The revenue estimates for the year should be exceeded.
