THE LONDON MARKET.
The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board has received the following cable from its London office, dated. October 19, 1923, advising Smithfield delivered prices averaged for week ending that date as follows: —
New Zealand Wethers and Maidens. Canterbury quality, * selected brands, 561 b and under 71d, 571 b to 641 b 7d, 651 bto 721 b 63d; other brands, sSlb and under 7d, 571 b to 641 b 6id, 651 b to 721 b 63d. New Zealand ewes, 641 b and under sid. New Zealand Lambs.—Canterbury quality, 361 b and under 103 d, 371 b to 421 b lOld, 431 b to 501 b 9Sd, seconds 91d; selected brands, 361 b and under lO&d, 371 b to 421 b 103 d; other brands, first quality, 361 b and under 93d, 371 b to 421 b 93d, second quality, 301 b to 321 b average 9id. Argentine Lambs.—First quality, 361 b and under 9id. New Zealand Beef.—Ox fores 4d, ox hinds sd, cow fores 3 id, cow hinds 4 Id. Argentine Chilled Beef.—Ox fores 43d, ox hinds 6id. Frozen Pork.—Porkers, 601 b to 801 b 7ld, §ilb to 991 b 7id, 1001 b to 1201 b 7id; baconers, 1211 bto 1801 b 7id. Lamb Market.—Slightly better enquiry but trade slow. First grade firm, but second quality weaker. Mutton Market.—Plentiful supplies Home killed causing dragging market. Beef Market. —Easier New Zealand Porker Pigs.—Better enquiry, but no change in prices.
