Annual Conference. The Municipal Association advised that the next annual conference would be held at Wanganui during the first week in March. The board decided to discuss the question of remits at its next meeting. Hall Repairs. An estimate for repairs to the town hall from Mr. Lindsey for £4 13s, included an item “filling and erecting” fire extinguisher. “What, is it not full?” exclaimed a member. Glen Scotia Road. The chairman reported that the sides of the drain had subsided near Mr. Henshaw’s in Glen Scotia road. He had inspected the site in company with Mr. Carr, and also asked Mr. Fitzgerald’s advice and had come to the conclusion that to make a job of the work piping was necessary. Mr. Barr Brown thought the pipes could be laid under the road by the junction, and also suggested the old drain should be filled in. The chairman replied that work was already authorised by Mr. Henshaw, and the filling would be essential to make a job of it. As there was a swamp on the lower side the pipes would have to be laid to drain that. The work was then authorised. Campbell Road. It was decided to metal the crossing at the junction of Campbell road and Arapuni road. Marchant Street. It was decided to allow Mr. George to remove spoil from the roadside, in Marchant street, in order to rulse the front of his section, provided the work was done at an early date, and to the satisfaction of the engineer.

Fitzgerald, engineer to the board, enclosed specifications for 93 chains of concrete channelling, and advised that it would be impossible to go forward with all the work at the moment, owing to the difficulty in obtaining levels until road was gazetted a main highway.
