LIBERATION OF PHEASANTS.
SOCIETY’S PROPOSAL. Large Areas Required. In a circular to branches, the Auckland Acclimatisation Society sets out the conditions appertaining to the liberation of pheasants, in a series of proposals for future policy, or in the form of recommendations to be sent to the Minister of Internal Affairs. Pheasants would only be allotted to districts where suitable breeding areas were closed against shooting for a perioc! of not less than two years. Areas should be from 1000 to 2000 acres, though smaller areas would be considered. Several small adjoining properties could be used to make up the total area. Written consent of ownership required. Suitable cover and feed must be on the area. Freedom from rabbit poisoning is essential.
