Women’s Division.

FARMERS’ UNION. Monthly Meeting. The usual monthly meeting of the Putaruru branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held on August 25. The members present were: Mesdames Baldwin (president), W. Baldwin, Sneddon, Allwood, Ranger, Truss, Worth, Scott, Nicklin, Campbell, Morrison, Robinson, Vosper, Brown, Berman, McKeon, Anderson and Sealey. New Members. Six new members were duly elected. The kindness of those business people in the town who so generously helped in the recent dance was commented upon, and the thanks of the division expressed. Rest Room Wanted. A very important question was then dealt with, namely, the use to j which the funds of the division were to be put. After a good deal of discussion it was decided unanimously that the most pressing need of the women of Putaruru’s farming community was

a rest room, and that the local branch work with that end in view. Lectures Proposed. It has long been the wish of the division to provide a series of lectures on topics of interest to members, and negotiations are in train to secure the services of a poultry expert for this purpose. Mesdames Robinson and Brown volunteered to supply afternoon tea at the next monthlj* meeting. The members present extended their sympathy to Mrs. Karl, who absent owing to a slight accident having befallen one of her children. At the conclusion of the meeting a dainty afternoon tea was served.
