The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board has received the following cable from its London office, dated August 31, 1928, advising Smithfield delivered prices averaged for week ending that date as follows: New Zealand Wethers and Maidens.—Canterbury quality', selected brands, 561 b and under 73d, 571 b to C4lb 7sd, 651 bto 721 b 73d; other brands, 561 b and under 73d, 571 b to G4lb 7-id, 651 b to 721 b 7d. New Zealand ewes, 641 b and under CJd. New Zealand Lambs.—Canterbury quality, 361 b and under 10id, 371 b to 421 b lOid, 431 b to 50!b 93d; seconds, j 3 Ori; selected brands, 361 b and under 103 d, 371 b to 421 b lOid; other brands, first quality, 361 b and under 101 d, 371 b to 421 b ICsd; second quality, 301 b to 321 b average, lOld. New Zealand Beef.—Ox fores 33d, ox hinds 58d, cow fores 3!d, cow hinds 51d.
Argentine Chilled Beef.—Ox- fores 43d, cow hinds 73d. Frozen Pork.—Porkers, 601 b to 801 b 75d,” 811 b to 991 b 7d, 1001 b to 1201 b 7d; baconers, 1211 b to ISOlb 7ld. Lamb. —Market keeps firm for prime lamb. Consumption satisfactory. Tone of market slightly weaker for secondary- lamb owing to competition of Scotch hill lambs. Mutton.—Market firm. There has been a good demand fior light-weight ewes. Beef.—Market Steady.
