Tirau.

The township and some of the outdistricts were thrown into darkness cn Saturday evening through a motor lorry smashing a post near Mr. Mark Harrison’s residence. The lorry, owned by Mr. McDonald, was not badly damaged.

Mr. J. Goodwin sustained two fractured ribs and Mr. J. Callaghan, junr., a severe shaking and bruises through a two-seater car overturning between Okoroire and Tirau on Saturday. The young men were returning from the Peace Cup match and were within less than a mile of home when a wheel flew off. Fortunately the occupants were thrown on to the soft part of the road. The car was damaged. Personal. Miss Hudner has sold her interest in the Tirau boardinghouse, and will shortly' leave for Sydney to attend the Eucharistic conference. Miss Lett, of Pahiatua, is the guest of Mrs. W. D. Fraser.
