MATAMATA PRESBYTERIANS.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual congregational meeting of parishioners of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Matamata, was held on Tuesday evening, the Rev. A. C. Hampton presiding. The Rev. W. T. Brabyn, of Tirau, was present. The various reports indicated that the church was displaying exceptional vitality in all departments, nearly everywhere increases of membership and financial support being in evidence.

The session clerk, Mr. Fred Jones, reported that in every department of church life there had been marked improvement, and the attendance at the services had been wonderfully well maintained, with record attendances at communion. The roll now stood ai 220, an increase of 54 new members. There were 12 marriages and 26 baptisms. The Ladies’ Guild, with Mrs. Griffiths as president and Mrs. Gordon as secretary, was a most efficient organisation. The P.W.M.U., with Mrs. Hampton and Miss Banks at Matamata and Mrs. McKenzie at Waharoa, had done well. Mention was also made of Miss Murray as organist and Mr. A. J. Tong as choirmaster.

Mr. A. G. Findlater reported that the Sunday school roll was 70, with six teachers.

The treasurer, Mr. P. Finlayson, reported an increase in collections by £33, sustentation fund increase £l2. The Ladies’ Guild had cleared the piano debt of £3l 10s; and also contributed over £l7 towards the hall debt, of which there was still £4OO to be wiped off. Miss E. Banks described the whole field covered by the P.W.M.U., and referred to the loss of an able member, Mrs. T. Keeps, who now resided in Morrinsville. Her influence was much missed.

The management committee was elected as follows:—Messrs. W. Pirie (secretary), W. A. Turkington, D. Waterson, Mr. and Mrs. F. Jones, Mr. and Mrs. E. Fielder, Mrs. M. Griffiths, Mr. P. Finlayson, senr., Messrs. A. Potts and Geo. Mason.
