Comments. „ The meeting between these teams always provides an exciting contest, and Saturday’s match was no exception to the rule, though the game at times was very ragged. There was not a great deal of open play, but this was due, like the scrambling nature of play, to the fact that both teams spotted and tackled well. It was a real cup match, fought out in deter-* mined fashion and with no quarter being given, yet the game was clean and was played in a most sporting Spirit.

■ For Putaruru, R. Dunlop’s kicking ! I was a great asset, while F. Brown I at wing three-quarter played his best I game to date. Henderson started I badly but came to light later on, I while Morton proved a glutton for I work. G. Brown at rover was übi-1 quitous, and all the pack lasted well I and kept at it to the bitter end. I For Arapuni, Rapson had a day I off. McDonald and McGillivray were I the best of the backs, with Cullen I shaping in a promising manner atJ half-back. The two Belchers, Parkerß and McClelland led the forwards well, I who, however, had not the condition! of their opponents. The score flattered Putaruru some-B what, as there was hardly that mar-B gin between the teams, and the nextß meeting between these in thel knock-out competition should pi-pvideß a rare tussle. SCHOOLS. 1 Mataaku v. Putaruru. 1 The Putaruru boys’ team journeyed I to Mamaku, last Saturday and gained I an overwhelming victory by 71 points I to 0. Trigs for Putaruru were scored I by Berg (6), Woods (4), Haumaha I (4), Benton (2), Waea (2), Howland I (1), Barnett (1), Dehar (1). G. Berg I converted three tries and Haumaha I one.
