Tirau.
Mr. J. Swney has purchased part of iVxr. T. Jones' property at Taumangi. Mr. J. Kinnear leaves on Saturday by the Rotorua on a trip to Europe. He will also visit Ins tirtl.piooe, * Armagh, Ireland. Spinsters’ Dance. The spinsters’ dance, held on Thursday, was one of the events of the season. It was a huge success, both from a social and .financial point of view. The attendance taxed the hall to the utmost, visitors being present ■ from Arapuni, Mamaku, Putaruru and Matamata. The Tirau giris are also to be congratulated on their arrangements, which were perfect. The supper was tasteful and the music by Stan Holland’s orchestra was greatly appreciated. Extras were played by Miss McCullough and Mr. A. Kingsford (Arapuni). Misses Hetherington, Gaylor and Harwood ably carried out the ceremonial duties. The function was that enjoyable that the bachelors have decided to reciprocate. Considerable credit for the success of the function must be accorded to Miss M. Dagg, the secretary, who was to the greater extent the guiding force in a project which might easily - have been marred by one less energetic in the position.
