TO MAKE A WINDOW OPAQUE.

Take a jam pot and three-parts fill it with ordinary gum arabic. Add a little hot water, and let it soak for some hours. When the gum has dissolved, add, the same quantity of Epsom salts; stand the pot in a basin of hot water and stir well until the salts have quite dissolved. Apply the mixture quickly to the glass with a brush. The effect, while light is admitted, is that of crystalised ground glass.
