BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY.
RULES CONFIRMED. By Town Board. On Monday the Town Board received a .communication from Mr. J. Jt. -O. Loehhead, hon. secretary to the local Beautifying Society, enclosing final draft of the proposed rules The letter showed that a subscription of 2s 6d had been decided upon, and that the executive had been increased to eight. Of the executive four would be appointees •£>f the Town Rbard while the chairman of the hoard or his appointee would also be chairman of the society and have a -deliberative as well as a casting vote. The quorum was fixed at three, two pf whom must be members of the Town Board. The writer further advised that an endeavour had been made to get Mr. Pearson, superintendent of parks, Auckland, to visit Putaruru to advise the society, but that the City Council had refused as it was contrary to its policy. j The chairman explained the alterations to the rules had been made with •a view to broadening the interest in the society. He suggested Mr. Toma3in for the vacancy as he was keen .and anxious to serve. Mr. Barr Brown: Who are the other members ? Mr. McDermott: The chairman, Mr. Bind say and myself, with Messrs. ■Bochhead, Goudie, Ranger and Simplon from the society. "Mr. Tomalin: I would rather serve ■on that than on the Town Board. /Laughter). Mr. Lindsey: Hear, hear. Mr. Tomalin was then -elected to the vacant position on the executive ■of the society. ■
