STOCK SALES.
Mr. C. S. Leggett. The highest prices for grade Jersey cows in Morrinsville were reached on Friday, when 18 second and third calvers were sold by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. on behalf of Mr. C. S. Leggett, of Motumaoho. Mr. Leggett’s herd is recognised as being one of the best in the district, and the prices paid for the cows, of which Mr. Leggett is disposing in favour of pedigrees, indicate the opinion in which they are held. The average worked out at £l4 7s, prices ranging from £9 to £2O 10s. The highest priced beast was bought by Mr. N. Dey, of Tatuanui. One realised £lB, one £l7, three £ls 10s, two £ls, two £l4 10s, one £l2 15s, two £l2, one £ll 10s, one £ll, and one £9. All the cows were in calf to a son of the famous Waipiko Masterpiece, Poneke Daisy’s Picko from Twilysh’s Daisy. The cattle were yarded in excellent condition. Mr. J. Wake. An average of between £8 and £9 was made by the 29 cows offered by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. on Friday on account of Mr. J. Wake. The cows were a mixed lot, but bidding was good and most of the animals changed hands. Heifers made from £G to £B, and best cows from £9 10s to £ll, others making from £7 to £8 10s. Mr. G. Taylor. An exceptionally large attendance of buyers was present at the clearing sale of Mr. George Taylor's (Ngarua) herd and effects on Monday, the owner having decided to give up dairying. The offering comprised grade and pedigree Jerseys and the prices received constituted a record for the district. Thirty pedigree cows and heifers were offered and sold at from 20gns to 57gns. Astonishing prices were received for the grade Jerseys, which were all fine animals and well backed with highproducing blood. The average for 60 was £ls 15s. The choicest animals brought from £ls to £2l 10s, and others from £lO to £ls. Nine two-year-old heifers of fine quality attracted spirited bidding. The first three brought £2O each and the others made from £ls to £l9. Calves realised from £7 to £8 10s. Implements and sundries also sold well. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Company were the auctioneers.
Mr. W. Noton. There was a fair attendance at Mr. W. Noton’s clearing sale conducted by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. on the owner’s property at Tauhei on Thursday. The offering included a herd of 70 Shorthorn-Jersey cross cows, which averaged about £lO. Prices for the best ranged from £ll to £l3, others bringing from £6 to £lO. The heifers offered were not in good condition and attracted poor competition. Prices were up to £6. Calves brought from £3 to £4 10s, Pigs sold fairly well, sows bringing from £3 to £6, and large slips to 28s. An aged farm mare realised £l2 10s. MATAMATA. A good yarding of over 100 head of beef met with keen demand at the sale conducted by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. at Matamata on Saturday. A number of choice Holstein heifer calves, with a good butter-fat backing realised £4 19s, while Ayrshire heifer calves brought £4 10s. There was an average yarding in the pig section, the demand being fair and late rates maintained. Other prices were as follows: Cattle.—Heavy fat cows £8 10s to £ll 18s, medium £7 5s to £B, lighter
£6 to £6 15s, unfinished £4 15s to £S 4s; stores, £2 15s to £3 10s. * Heifers, £5 17s 6d; Jersey heifer calves, £3 15s to £4 2s 6d; dairy cattle, heifers, £lO to £l2; Jersey cows ' (July and August calvers), £ll 10s j to £l3 15s; later, £8 to £lO.

Pigs.—Heavy baconers, £3 15s to £4 Is; light baconers, £3 5s to £3 8s; heavy porkers, £2 6s to £2 14s; light porkers, £1 10s to £1 17s; slips, 14s to 18s; weaners, 8s to 12s; sows in pig, £3 to £3 10s. MORRINSVILLE. There was only a fair yarding of pigs and a small entry of sheep at Dalgety and Company’s sale at Morrinsville on Thursday. Beef cattle were yarded in fair numbers, but there was little competition for dairy stock. Prices were:— Beef.—Light fat cows £5 to £5 10s, fresh-conditioned cows £3 15s to £4 15s, inferior sorts £2 5s to £3 12s 6d. Dairy Stock.—Small Jersey heifers £7 10s, Shorthorn heifers £3 10s to £6 10s, Jersey-cross heifer calves ,£4 7s 6d. HAMILTON. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s Frankton sale on Tuesday there was a good entry of fat cattle, and prices were firm for prime cow and heifer beef at late ruling rates. Extra heavy prime cows, £ll 10s to £l2; good quality prime heavy young cows and heifers, £lO Is to £ll Is; medium prime, £8 9s to £9 0s 6d; lighter prime, £7 to £8; plain and unfinished, £5 to £6 ss; runners, £3 to £4 10s; store cows, £3 10s to £4; yearling Jersey and Jersey cross heifers, £3 10s to £3 16s; 2i to 3year steers, £7 2s Gd. A full yarding of fat and store sheep and breeding ewes was offered. Fats lacked the competition of previous sales and values reached were 2s to 3s a head lower than late markets. All classes of stores also sold at lower rates. The majority of the yarding comprised chiefly ewes in lamb; although the competition was not up to expectation practically all lots were cleared at satisfactory prices. Medium fat wethers 365; exj tra heavy prime fat ewes, 34s to 355; / medium weight fat ewes, 29s to 29s I Gd; good prime woolly hoggets, 30s J 6d to 325; fair forward conditioned i hoggets, 23s to 245; small hoggets, ! 17s 6d to 21s; 2-tooth wethers, 28s | 9d; medium quality s.m. ewes in lamb to S.D. and Leicester rams, 25s 3d to 25s 6d; s.m. ewes well forward in lamb to S.D. rams sold to 31s 6d. A fair entry of fat and store pigs were submitted and fats sold well Up to late values, while stores and light porkers again showed a further advance. Heavy baconers, £3 18s to £4 4s; medium baconers, £3 9s to £3 14s; light baconers, £3 to £3 ss; heavy porkers, £2 8s to £2 15s; light porkers, 20s to 38s; slips, 14s to 18s; weaners, 8s to 12s.
