LIGHTING CHARGES.
“{ "VERY UNSATISFACTORY. i . Town Board Discussion. 1 On Monday the Thames Valley Power Board advised the Putaruru JTown Board,'in reply to a complaint that the meters in the hall had again ■been read and proved correct. Under the circumstances the only apparent (reason for the high charges in the Summer months was that the meters Were under-read, previously. In future there would be a permanent tneter reader working the district .each month. The chairman held it was a most Unsatisfactory letter, and simply begged the question. Mr. Barr Brown: It admits incompetence on the part of their employees. k The chairman: On the face of it the excuse is absurd for the underreading must have been done over a period. Then when we complain it goes back to normal again. Mr. Lindsay: It’s no answer to our letter. The whole town is complaining. , The chairman: I don’t think we should let the matter drop after a letter like that. There is some big error somewhere. Mr. Tomalin: I agee with you. I’d like to test them in some way, too. Mr. Barr Brown: As Mr. Anderson hasn’t answered I suggest we forward the whole of the correspondence to Mr. Price. It’s a rotten position. Mr. Neal gave a further instance <of faulty reading of the meter in his shop. It was then unanimously decided to adopt Mr. Barr Brown’s suggestion.
