ON RUNNING-IN.

THE NEW CAR. One of the articles recently published in these pages was from an oil expert who contended that instead of keeping the car down to 25 miles per hour until 500 miles have been traversed, the driver should indulge in short bursts of speed from the start. Commenting on this profrom all previous expert motorists’ posal, which is a radical departure advice, an expert writer in The Motor (London) states that bursts of speed may be given when approaching the 500 mile total, but the great thing is to take care that these “ bursts ” do not last for more than a minute or two.

And besides keeping the speed down, use second gear at all stiffish hills, and don’t try to find out her best performance “ on top.”
