McDavitt, replying to a letter from the union regarding subunion boundaries, stated that he submitted the complete boundaries to a meeting of the union last season, but sowing to the lateness of the hour they were simply placed on the table. The writer. submitted a map showing the defined boundaries. It was decided to thank Mr. McDavitt for his courtesy.

Visit to Taranaki. At the request of the Taranaki union the date for the match at Stratford was altered from July 11 (Wednesday) to July 12. The question of the wisdom of the alteration was raised in view of the Waikato team being engaged against the Bush team at Hamilton on July 3.4. However, taking into consideration the terms offered by Taranaki, It was decided to accept the date. Referees. On the recommendation of the WaiTcato Referees’ Association the following names of Waikato referees were forwarded to the New Zealand Rugby Union Appointment Board : Messrs. B. Chapman, W. Bryden, C. ai. Rabone and S. Mannering. Patetere Appeal. 'An appeal against a decision of the Referee in the Walton-Patetere match •was forwarded through the Mata- 1 grata sub-union. The Patetere club tasked for a replay in the event of the

appeal being upheld. The appeal stated that the line umpire had held up his flag for a man being out of play, over the touch line. The referee, however, allowed the man to go on, and he scored a try which was converted.

Mr. Chapman pointed out that if the referee had not seen the linesman’s flag upland had given a try, and yet had not overridden the umpire, he could alter his decision. It was decided to aslc the Matamata sub-union to furnish a report from the referee. Walton Protest. The Walton protest regarding Moore’s suspension came up for review with a long letter from the Walton club. Moore had been suspended for the season by the Matamata sub-union.

Mr. Yardley stated that the subunion secretary would admit that he had not notified the player in writing in accordance with the rules; he had followed custom and looked to the referee to do so. The referee had stated that he had notified the player. On the motion of Mr. Chapman, it was decided to instruct the Matamata sub-union to rehear the case. The union had not observed its rules. If the latter were not suitable the union should revise them. Good Gate Receipts. The treasurer produced a balancesliedt showing receipts for the Waikato v. .Hamilton match and the Waikato v. Auckland match. The former gate takings were £6O 9s 3d, and the latter £239 14s 3d. The nett profit, to be divided 50—50 between the Hamilton sub-union and Waikato would be £BOI 3s 6d.

The union’s bank statement showed a credit of £l5O, after paying the Hamilton sub-union.

In connection with the match, Mr. Chapman drew attention to the late starting' -of the Auckland-Waikato match. He said that many country patrons had .missed their trains. This would not encourage them to visit further matches. He suggested that the matches should be played to time and that overtures should be made to the New . Zealand Railways De- | partment for a further margin of 1 time, on the Frankton-Paeroa train especially. Finlay Cup. Mr. Yardley gave notice to move, at a general meeting of the union trf be held prior to the next annual meeting, that the Finlay Cup rules be revised.
