A PARISIENNE’S NOTEBOOK.
| NEW MODES AND NOVELTIES. j (By Yvonne* Rodicr). I Unusually attractive are tlie new tailored coatfrocks, which arc characterised by a wealth of subtle detail. An outstanding example in navy repps I* shows a simple bodice in chic alliance j with a skirt that is covered entirely j with wide horizontal tucks. Countless tiny tucks radiate from the neck at the I back of the frock, while in front the corsage is cut in a deep oval, revealing a vest of white pique with a smart upstanding collar and a tie monogrammed | in pale blue. j Evening frocks specialise, so to speak, j in the swathed waist and uneven hem- ! line. And long sleeves introduce a J novel evening note. Skirts are fre- ; queutly longer at the back than in j front, and longer at the sides than at [ the back. The vogue for huge bows as side trimmings still prevails, j Charmeline fashions many of the ! most appealing examples of the | “little” frock, mid a pale sc-c green is ore of the season’s most favoured col- ! ours. The green superstition is dead, 1 imagine, on the English siue of the ! Channel, judging by the r.umber of ' g een models we are sending ox er there l Here, of course, w ? are assailed by no such fears, green being our colour oi hope. The little frocks are charmingly designed, with flic subtle simplicity that .is achieved in the first-'-mss ateliers 1 alone. One pale gioen model gown, cut rather straight, lias pockets on either j >’\te and oeautiM ?ly fine shirring be- ! tween them on the front of the skirt. Piquantly subtle lines of its own material are adroitly let into the bodice which is finished off with frilled lacemuslin collar and cuffs, and the übiquitous bolt in a darker shade of green leather. An innovation in ultra-smart footwear is the leopard sandal that now menaces the popularity of serpent-skin. These sandals achieve quite an intriguing barbaric note when worn with a j filmy frock.
