DAIRY FACTORY RETURNS.

FIGURES FOR APRIL. High Rate of Payout. | High advances for butterfat, particularly for cheesemaking, are again a feature of the returns for April of dairy factories operating in the Morrinsville district. Production continues to decline, but the higher rate, which in the case of Tatuanui amounts to a 50 per cent, increase, enables the distributions to suppliers to be ahead of those for April, 1927. Morrinsville. For the season nearing completion the Morrinsville Co-operative Dairy Company has exceeded its previous season’s output by nearly 100 tons already, and it is anticipated that the season’s output will reach 900 tons, an increase of nearly 20 per cent. The advance payment for April supplies is at the rate of Is clear of cartage, the total being £6717 11s 9d, compared with £6157 9s 7d for last season, when the rate was Is Id only. The attached figures show the payments for the season and the contrast between the output ar.d the payout, which reflects the higher advance payments for this season. The figures also fully reflect the result of the dry spell, November showing an increase of 30 per cent., falling rapid-

ly in February to a decline over t\„e latter part of the season. The total loss to the district by reason of the prolonged drought may be judged from these figures. The company is preparing for a still larger output next winter. A new churn of the latest type is to be installed right away, bringing the number to three. Consequent upon the extensive building programme carried out last winter little further capital expenditure is expected.
