HAS SON BEEN FOUND?
MR. A. WEST’S QUEST. Suspicions of a Hoax. The following cable from Melbourne is being published in the metropolitan dailies:— “ Andrew West, aged 70, left New Zealand for Australia recently to resume a nine-years’ search for his son Percival. “ Information reached the father from George Emery, of the Grand Hotel, Mornington, that Percival had been employed by him for the past seven years, and the father and son have been reunited.”
This message, though it may have some foundation on fact, is regarded with suspicion by Mr. West’s family, who have received no ; word of the reported finding of. Percival West and are inclined to consider it a hoax. Furthermore, as Mr. West senior did not leave New Zealand until 2 p.m. cn Monday afternoon by the Aorangi the reference to father and son being reunited obviously cannot be correct. According to the family Mr. West read the newspapers reporting his alleged meeting with his sop before he left for Sydney.
