TIRAU.

Popular Bowler Farewelled. The members of the Tirau Bowling Club expressed their appreciation and esteem of the work done by Mr. J. W. McLarin, president of the club, recently, when, on the green, Mr. F. Rose presented Mr. McLarin, who is leaving the district to live at Kerepeehi (Hauraki Plains) with a case of pipes on behalf of the members. Mr. Rose eulogised the work of the departing member and expressed regret at the loss that Tirau would sustain. He felt sure that Mr. McLarin would further the interests of bowling in his new sphere. He hoped that when Mr. McLarin was sitting by his fireside of an evening he would think of the happy times he had spent with the members of the Tirau Bowling Club. Concluding, he made reference to the sportsmanlike manner in which Mr. McLarin entered into the game. Weight-guessing. The weight - guessing competition held in conjunction with the Patetere Oddfellows sports resulted : Sheep (weight 59ilb), Messrs. F. Batley and W. Harwood tied with 59ilb. Personal. Messrs. A. W. E. Bragg and E. M. Grace, of the county oifice staff, have been appointed traffic inspectors for the Matamata county. Mrs. F. L. Rose, of Mount Eden, Auckland, is on a visit to her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. F. Rose, of Tirau. Mr. I. Wilson, of Papakura, has been on a visit to his brother, Mr. G. Wilson, at Tirau.
