STOCK SALES.

MORRINSVILLE. There was a good yarding of pigs, sheep and cattle at the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company s sale at iUorlmsviUe on Friday. The quality of the sheep yarded was somewhat below the usual standard and prices were easier. There was little demand for store lanes, wmch were easier, while fat ewes and stores snowed a similar decline. Lett made late rates. Several pens or good-quality SLOie steers sold well. Fat pigs, porkers, heavy stores and weaners w'ere well represented, no extra-heavy baconers being yarded. Weaners and stores showed a tendency to improve. Forkels and light baconers made late rates. The season for dairy cows is not yet in full swing, but there was a fair inquiry for springing heifers. A small yarding came forward, cows and heifers realising between £6 10s and £8 10s. Prices were:— Beef.—Medium fat steers £ll ss, lighter £9 7s 6d to £9 16s ; heavy fat cows £8 10s co £lO 10s ; medium fat cows £7 5s to £8 2s 6d, lighter £6 2s 6d to £6 14s, forward-conditioned £4 17s 6d to £5 16s ; fresh-conditioned stores £3 10s to £4 10s, others £2 10s to £3 2s 6d ; fat heifers £7 15s to £B, light £5 16s to £6 ; three-year and four-year Shorthorn store steers £7 15s to £8 6s ; in-calf Jersey springing heifers, good quality, £7 17s 6d to £8 10s ; in-calf Friesian heifers £7 ; Jersey and Jersey-cross heifer calves, besc £3 to £3 7s, others £2 5s to £2 12s ; potting bulls £2 to £5. Sheep.-—Fat wethers 28s to 32s 6d ; medium-weight fat ewes 22s to 23s ; fat lambs 26s 6d to 275, lighter 21s to 22s 6d ; well-grown wether lambs, woolly 19s 6d, shorn 19s 7d ; good m.s. woolly lambs, forward conditioned, 21s 9d ; good woolly ewe lambs 21s 6d ; m.s. shorn lambs 13s 9d ; aged ewes 9s to 10s 6d. Pigs.—Medium baconers £3 12s to £3 18s, light £2 18s to £3 2s ; medium porkers £2 10s to £2 16s, light £1 18s to £2 2s ; good stores £1 5s to £1 12s, smaller 19s to 22s ; slips 13s 6d to 18s ; weaners 9s to 12s.

HAMILTON. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. report:—At the weekly stock sale in the Frankton yards on Wednesday there was a small entry of all classes. Prices for prime fat cattle were up ( to late market values, plain and unfinished were easier, mutton was also below last week’s rates. Fat pigs were slightly easier, while all classes of stores were hard to quit. Beef.—Best prime fat cows sold up to £9 15s; medium weights, £7 15s to £8 15s; plainer, £6 to £7 10s; unfinished, £5 7s 6d to £5 15s. Sheep.—Fat wethers sold to 32s 7d, fat and forward light weights, 28s; prime fat ewes, 26s Id to 27s 3d; fair quality medium weights, 23s lOd to 255; forward conditioned ewes, 15s 9d to 18s lOd; store ewes, 12s 6d. Pigs.—Heavy baconers, £4 to £4 9s; medium, £3 3s to £3 13s; best porkers, £2 5s to £2 15s; lighter, 35s to £2 2s 6d; slips, 12s to 15s; weaners, 6s to 11s.

WAIKATO MARKET REPORT. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Co report as follows, under date April 10: Beef.—The market is very firm, with every prospect of a further rise, best prime ox making equal to 35s per 1001 b and prime cow and heifer up to 30s per 1001 b. Fat Sheep.—Prices are firm with strong competition for both wether cud ewe mutton, and although not plentiful, sufficient is offering tc meet the local demands. Stores.—There is still o strong demand for all classes with prices improving, breeding ewes,- wethers and lambs being keenly ,-ought after. Store Cattle.—Good yardings have been coming forward and meeting with keen competition; grown and young steers, good empty cows, and yearling heifers are in strong demand.

Dairy Cattle. Although early in the season, there has been a good enquiry for Jersey and Jersey-cross in-calf heifers, and several sales at high prices have taken place. Pigs. There has been a sharp rise, with, all the markets very firm for baconers and porkers, prime quality making from Old to 7d; good stores are in demand, but weaners are still very cheap, due no doubt to the shortage of feed. Horses. —The market is very quiet for all classes. Quotations are:—Beef.—Bullocks, prime heavy £l2 10s to £l3 10s, prime medium £lO 10s to £ll 10s; cows, prime heavy £8 10s to £lO 10s; medium £6 15s to £7 10s, unfinished £4 10s to £5 ss; heifers, prime £8 5s to £lO 10s; good store cows, £4 5s to £4 15s; cull cows, £2 to £2 10s; steers, 4-years, forward £8 to £9 ss, 4-years stores £7 10s to

Dairy Cattle. — Choice Jersey and Jersey-cross heifers, £4 to £4 10s; JQ heifers, Jersey-cross 18-months (in calf), good, £9 to £lO. Sheep—Wethers, prime heavy shorn 30s to 335, prime medium 28s to 395; ewes, prime shorn 22s to 265, medium 18s 6d to 20s; lambs, prime fat 22s to 245; wethers, 4-tooth stores 25s to 275, 2-tooth stores 23s to 24s 6d; breeding owes, pood 5-year 24s to 265, good 4-year 26s to 28s, 4-tooth to 5-year 24s 6d to 27s Od, sound mouth 18s to 20s, aged 11s to 16s, 2tooth, 28s 6d to 30s; iambs, best woolly store 18s to 20s, medium woolly store 15s to 16s, best shorn store 17s to 18s, medium shorn store 12s to 13s 6d, small store 10s to 12s, Pigs.—Baconers, prime £4 to £4 ss, medium £3 10s to £3 15s; porkers, best £2 17s to £3; slips, 25s to 275; \yeaners, 8s to 14s; good stores, 30s to 355. Dalgety and Company Ltd. report having received the following cablegram from their London house, dater 12th instant:— Frozen Meat.—The demand continues, and prices are unchanged since our wire of last week.
