On one of the drainage contract works in Christchurch there are a couple of “ toilers ” who might get into the tired business man class with a little more training (remarks the Sun). One of the men in a trench was noticed swinging a shovel containing a mite of soil. The foreman of works noticed the weary one, and ordered him to get out of the trench. Then he ordered him to go down, and then he ordered him to get up, and so on for a little while. The worker then was given a short rest, and told to repeat the performance. “ There,” said the foreman adjcctively, “ you keep on with that. “ You’re bringing up a sight more on your boots than on your shovel.”
