KITCHEN EVENING.

OKAUIA GATHERING. A kitchen evening and dance was tendered to Miss K. Barton by Mrs. B. Rallison at the residence of Mr. W. Short, Okauia. It was held in conjunction with a house party given by Mr. and Mrs. A. Piner on Saturday evening of last week. There was a large attendance, over 60 being present. A large room was available and dancing was much enjoyed. Mrs. Rallison received the guests in a frock of rose crepe de chine with silver lace, while Mrs. Piner wore figured voile. Miss K. Barton wore apricot brocaded crepe de chine. Mr. A. Carter in a neat speech asked Miss Barton and Mr. Geraghty to open the numerous gifts. This afforded everyone a good deal of amusement, for often a small article was wrapped tip in what seemed an endless supply of paper, making a huge parcel. There proved to be a good assortment of useful kitchen articles.

Mr. Geraghty responded on behalf of Miss Barton and thanked those present for their kindness. Mr. Carter then wished the couple every success in their future state and all joined in singing “ For They Are Jolly Good Fellows.” The following frocks were noticed : Miss E. Jones, powder blue crepe de chine ; Miss R. Carter (Hamilton), white and rose georgette ; Miss V. Pearce (Auckland), gold lace ; Miss M. Brookes (Auckland), green crepe de chine ; Miss Joy Brookes, peach crepe de chine ; Miss F. Wright, floral lemon rayon silk ; Miss V. White (Rotorua), lemon silk ; Miss M. White (Hamilton), blue silk and lace ; Miss A. Sutherland, red satin and silver lace ; Miss G. Jones, green crepe de chine and gold lace ; Miss M. Pearce (Auckland), green taffeta ; Miss D. Pearce (Auckland), cyclamen crepe de chine ; Miss E. Pearce (Auckland), blue crepe de chine ; Miss B. Eves, midnight blue crepe de chine ; Mrs. Pearce (Auckland), navy beaded crepe de chine ; Mrs. P. Olson (Auckland), tangerine velvet and powder blue georgette ; Mrs. Brookes, black crepe de chine ; Mrs. Barton, floral voile ; Mrs. Hindle, grey pama velvet flame trimmings ; Mrs. Garland, black crepe de chine. A delightful supper was served, and the evening concluded with the singing of “ Auld Lang Syne.”
