SHIPMENTS OF FROZEN MEAT.
TOTAL FOR FIVE MONTHS. Large Increase in Beef Exports. The New Zealand Meat Producers Board reports under date March 13 the following shipments of frozen meat from New Zealand for the period October 1, 1927, to February 29, 1928. The previous year’s figures are given in parentheses : London, quarters beef 49,192 (8056), carcases mutton 556,469 (557,005), carcases lamb 1,733,355 (1,401,621), carcases pork 29,687 (21,987) ; West Coast United Kingdom, quarters beef 9477 (4577), carcases mutton 34,346 (26,404), carcases lamb 198,789 (148,302), carcases pork 23,373 (17,841) ; Port Said, quarters beef 3899 (3484) • New York, quarters beef 7568 ( —), carcases mutton 1005 ( —), carcases lamb 2500 ( —) ; Vancouver, quarters beef 600 ( —), carcases mutton 2000 ( —), carcases
lamb 500 ( —) ; Halifax, quarters beef 1047 ( —) ; total exports for period, Quarters beef 71,783 (16,117), carcases mutton 593,820 ( 583,409), carcases lamb 1,935,144 (1,551,676), carcases pork 53,060 (39,828). The total killings for export at all works during the same period are as follow, the figures for the corresponding period of the previous season being given in parentheses : Beef (quarters) 166,299 (18,200), wether mutton (carcases) 697,905 (701,152), ewe mutton (carcases) 370,409 (326,545), lamb (carcases) 3,189,958 (2,760,509), porkers (carcases) 82,995 ' (33,136), baconers (carcases) 26,638 (23,133), boneless beef (freight earcases) 97,444 (54,812), sundries (freight carcases) 22,647 (12,497).
