DEATH OF FLASHDALE.
Mystery surrounds the death of the famous Clydesdale stallion Flarhdalc, which oecured recently. The horsy, was found dead in his box. He had apparently dropped dead without a struggle as the straw in the box had not been disturbed. A veterinary surgeon made a thorough post-mortem examination, and is dissatisfied with the result. He has taken portion of the stomach for analysis. Flashdale was foaled on April 29. 1920, and was bred by Mr. J. Ernest Kerr, of Dollar, Scotland. Ho has had a remarkably successful career in the show ring, and ranked among the world's best Clydesdales. As a yearling, two-year-old, and three-year-old he won several classic prizes in Scotland, includng, in 1923, the coveted Cawdor Cup and reserve for Brydon Shield and Challenge Cup. He won many prizes in Victoria and Sydney. Flashdale sired Cooring Monarch, who was sold in February, 1927. at the age of 17 months, for the record price of £ISOO. Mr. Roddn. the recent owner, bought Flashdale on May 12 last for £2050. He was insured for £ISOO. Undoubtedly the passing of Flashdale will he a big loss to the Clydesdalobreeding industry in Australia and New Zealand.
