NEW BRITISH GAR.
A new British car has recently been placed on the market which promises to eclipse the Yankee’s most popular effort. It is a fullyequipped 4-seater, and at present sells at £125. When the new company gets down to mass production it is expected the price will be much reduced. The material used is a lowcarton sheet steel, which is much stronger than castings of iron or aliminium, and permits of thinner sections being used, and consequently there is a great saving of weight. The heavy pressings, stampings and castings ordinarily used in motorcars are thus dispensed w T ith. The bulk of the work is done by unskilled labour, and so costs are reduced to a minimum. The engine is of ten horsepower, four cylinder, and on a trial run from London to Glasgow a speed of 50 miles per hour was reached on a petrol consumption of 50 miles to the gallon. The car will be put on the market) from a mass production factory in a few months’ time, and in all probability there will be a sixcylinder model.
